The driver was very good. He was a safe driver. His name is John. It takes about 1 hour 45 minutes to go there from Naples. We enjoyed speaking with him during the trip. The ladies at the ticket booth at the ruins were rude and impatient. The museum was a disappointment. There is not much to see in the museum. The Ruins are very interesting I would recommend to my friends a visit to the ruins.

Easy independent trip! I traveled on a Sunday in Feb 2023 to Paestum. The official site app is fantastic for providing an audio tour and it is free! I had Dow loaded another tour and ending up usi g the free one instead as it was superior. The site is discounted to 6€ in the winter as most of the large museum is closed. You can go to the first floor of the museum and see tomb frescos including the diver. The weather and light was great in the morning and there were only us and another two people there until 9:40am. The temples are amazing and exceeded expectations. It is a short walk from the Paestum train station to these impressive ruins. You can buy the train tickets on the regular Trenitalia app, website etc. There is only a machine at the station in Paestum. I was staying in Pompeii so transferred in Salerno, the most common destination from this station. Note that there are no trains between 11:30 and 14:15. So either come around 11 and plan to stay and have lunch at the site or get there at 8:39 and leave at 11:26. This was enough time in the winter but I would have needed more if the museum was open .

More than amazing view of the temples and the site, well preserved and breathtaking. Do not miss the museum! It is equally beautiful and rich of stunning pieces, among which the super famous fresco of the Tomb of the Diver

the archaeological park of Paestum is one of the wonders of Italy , well-preserved temples inserted in a bucolic context that makes its beauty stand out , particularly if you visit them on a clear day like us ; they cannot be described easily , you have to go there and complete the visit with the museum adjacent to the exit ; they are easily accessible from Salerno by regional trains heading south , at the exit of the station a nice walk partly in the shade directs you to the park ; at the exit possibility of eating and souvenir stalls

The archaeological park of Paestum is truly wonderful. Millennial beauty, place of culture of inestimable value. There are three large temples, one of which can be visited inside. The museum, attached to the park, is also rich in Greek and Lucanian beauties and the guide to the tombs is really interesting. The only flaw, the STRONG SMELL of dung that comes from a buffalo farm nearby. It was not pleasant to visit the archaeological site with that nauseating smell. The responsibility of course lies with no one but those who support the use of animals enslaved by gluttony. I dare not imagine what those poor creatures can live.

The vision of the temples leaves you breathless, their magnificence captures the occji and the soul. The Doric columns stand out towards the sky, just observe, contemplate. I recommend a visit to the small museum, where among the many jewels you can admire the famous diver, the only Greek painting. I was lucky enough to visit the museum’s deposits: a thousand frescoed Lucan tombs. Beautiful and unexpected initiative!

A real step back in time not to be missed, very well preserved temples and ancient roads are the masters in all the proposed route, if you go in summer f obligation the cap to protect yourself from the sun the area is devoid of shelters

We arrived by camper directly from Padua. Parked at the Aeolian camper area and, as a Service, there is water and electricity. Watch out because the taps are at both ends and the columns are in the central parking lots. Cost 18 euros per night. Quiet and wooded area. The archaeological area can be visited without problems and queues (at least in June...). The tour takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Included is a small museum (duration about 20 minutes) and a guided tour of the basements where there are archaeological finds (duration about 40 minutes). In the central area, pedestrian only, I know or places to eat, souvenirs and that's it. In the premises the prices are average and you eat well. If you only go to the archaeological area invest about a couple of hours because then there is nothing left to do, unless you have bikes to get around. Have a nice holiday...

I had seen some photographs on the web of the archaeological site but I never imagined such breathtaking beauty. It is possible to see the organization of the whole city in addition to the great protagonists which are the temples of Neptune, Hera and Athena. Neptune built around 526 BC after about 40 years of work. It is one of the best preserved Greek temples (along with the Parthenon and Agrigento). To understand the grandeur of the site, the temple measures 24.5 meters by 50.30 m. Worth visiting is the small museum that preserves some tombs with animals and people who preserve the original colors of the time. Really unique.

Honestly I found the park very ruined compared to a few years ago. I understand the moment of crisis but a little cleaning would not be enough to improve everything, the park still retains its charm, I always recommend it.
